No drill? No Problem!
No drill? No Problem!
Every handyman, professional or amateur, needs tools. Tools break down and become lost. Sometimes you need a tool you don't have.
What can you do if you don't have a drill?
A drill's primary function is to drill holes for bolts on hard surfaces. Another function of a drill is to make it easier to screw bolts in hard surfaces, instead of using a manual tool. This is a great tool for when you need to screw many bolts.
As tedious as it may seem, the second function can be easily replaced by a standard screwdriver. You will need something else to drill a hole.
Method 1: To drill holes in plastic
- Place a piece of copper on the heat.
- Place the drill bit on top of the plastic.
- Allow it to melt the plastic until it forms a hole.
It is important to find the right size piece of copper, which can be found in most hardware stores.
Method 2: Create your own bow drill
- Two wooden sticks are sufficient. To serve as a bow tie a piece of string to both ends. The other end should have a sharp edge and a handle.
- You will need to make a small cut in the wood where you want to drill your hole.
- Apply pressure to the pointy end with your second stick.
- The drill bit is wrapped around the string (bow).
- Push the handhold into the wood and move the bow.
Method 3: Brace and bit
A brace is a tool that you can use to drill larger holes. Simply press down on the brace to rotate the u-shaped bits.
Method #4: Self drilling screws
It's possible to save a lot of time by simply purchasing self-drilling screwdrivers. You can just buy a regular screwdriver at your local hardware shop.
